Raymond blanc interview

French chef, restaurateur, author and much-loved TV personality Chef Raymond Blanc OBE is acknowledged as one of the world’s greatest chefs.

Completely self-taught, his influence on British cuisine has been enormous, and this year, he celebrates the 30th anniversary of outstanding, seasonal French dining at Brasserie Blanc.

Founded by the two-Michelin-starred chef, the celebrated restaurant group has come a long way since its milestone debut in 1996. Today, it has grown into a family of 13 brasseries spanning the UK.

Guided by the memory of his mother, Maman Blanc, and her love for fresh, seasonal produce, Raymond set out to offer wholesome, classic French cuisine with genuinely warm hospitality.

From those first doors opening in Oxford to the present day, Raymond, his passionate team, and their loyal guests have woven a beautiful history of bringing people together around the table.

This month also marks the launch of Raymond's collaboration with PAUL, with two sandwiches for the new autumn menu, turning everyday lunch into a distinctly French occasion.

He has taken a moment from juggling his restaurant empire to bring us this delicious guide to Marylebone’s best places to eat and drink, from morning to night.

COFFEE

PAUL

Paul bakery

I try to go for a swim in the morning when I can, so on the way back, I either get a juice or a cappuccino - I have a PAUL near my flat so I do stop there.  But I have to stop myself from getting a croissant too - they are so delicious.

PAUL, 115 Marylebone High St, London W1U 4SB

BREAKFAST

Home House

I don’t tend to go out for breakfast.

But if I have a meeting planned, I go to Home House and combine work and something to eat.

Home House, 20 Portman Square, London W1H 6LW

LUNCH

Lita

lita review

I am so lucky where I live as there are wonderful places in Marylebone - one of my favourite places is Lita - such a good menu and a lovely atmosphere

Lita, 7-9 Paddington St, London W1U 5QH

DINNER

Blandford Comptoir

blandford comptoir review

Blandford Comptoir Restaurant in Marylebone is run by a good friend of mine, Xavier Rousset - he used to work at Le Manoir and he has created a wonderful place.

The menu has such a good selection and of course, his wine list is wonderful.

Blandford Comptoir, 1 Blandford St, London W1U 3DA

DRINKS

Le Vieux Comptoir

le vieux comptoir

This is a little taste of France, steps from home. My go-to is a glass of Pinot Noir - with lunch or with dinner.

I do enjoy a glass of Champagne as well, of course.

Le Vieux Comptoir, 26, 28 Moxon St, London W1U 4EU

INSIDER TIP

Fischer's and Bayley & Sage

Fischer's review

For me, living in Marylebone Village is wonderful as there are so many good places to eat - I’ve mentioned a few, but also Fischer’s.

Also for shopping, we have a Bayley & Sage - a wonderful deli and of course there are shops for the home and gifts as well as fashion - all within just a few steps.
